Yesterday however, I spent the day at my aunt's and I was in charge of the boer goat buisness. I had to catch, weigh, and then negotiate the price with mostly Islamic men. Man they like to barter and they love their goat meat. It was chaos there were about 7 different groups there at a time and so I had to try to keep everyone straight and help everyone at once and there is only room to really slaughter 3 goats at a time. I had fun though. It was busy because it is the second biggest festival of the year for Islam which they are actually celebrating the event of Abraham and Isaac, where God provided that lamb to be slaughtered instead of Isaac, the story that god has been teaching me through the last couple of months: See my Letter of Resignation blog below. So I thought that was really awesome. That event is definitely something to celebrate and give thanks for. One of the men said it is kind of like their Thanksgiving holiday. Well also down on the farm yesterday one of my aunt's 4 golden retrievers was in labor all day and she had two pups by the time I left. So I got to see the new life of puppies and the death of goats. Pretty great day I have to say. Happy New Year to you all!
Just trying to put some thoughts about life out there. It is always good to put a word or a name on things.

Life and Death
So today is the last day of my job at Hamilton Reformed Church. I am done... I don/'t know what is next for sure, but it looks like I will be around Hamilton for the semester. Tomorrow I am heading out to St. Gregory Abbey to live up the monastic life for a week. I am just trying it out to see if this is where God wants me for the rest of my life... jk... I just need to get away and spend a lot of time with me and God. This week will probably be really hard but hopefully really good.

I can't believe you put a pic of the goats being slottered. That's so gross.
Hello friend. Best wishes for your monastery adventure. I went to one last spring and it was truly amazing. I heard a sermon tonight that included a witness to the fact that everything we do can be glorifying to God, if that is what we intend. I picked that up at the monastery and was reminded of it tonight. I hope you get something similar. An amazingly slow pace to life that lets you live it all to God.
Godspeed my friend.
