$ and Oppression

Two quotes that are really getting me to think and hopefully getting me to change:

"It is easier to spend less money than to make more money." 30Days - MinimumWage

In a society that always wants more and we are always told we need bigger, better, and more so we put everything else second to money. That is the most important direction to take this quote I think. But also with knowing that we wont always have good incomes and if you have dreams but no the income to support your dreams it is good to think about how can we live simpler to be able to live off less.

"Do you hear the cry of the oppressed? If you don't, could it be because you are a part of a system that is oppressing someone else?" Rob Bell

The Bible talks about the poor and the oppressed over 2000 times and I believe this shows what is on the heart of God. God is all about freeing the oppressed, no matter what the oppression might be. There is tons of oppression that happens and we don't see or hear most of it. Maybe that is because we are too comfortable? I love the freedom and privileges that I have from living in America, But if that is on the expense of others I don't want it! Well I kind of don't want it, because that is easier said than lived. There is definitely part of me that wants it. Which I think means that I am not hearing the cries of the oppressed enough.
