Spending Money / No Shave November

I seem to be spending lots of money lately, and not making a lot. We all know money is a crazy thing and can control our lives. Some people's goals are to make a lot of money, period; they don't really want a lot of things they only want money to be comfortable. Some people do want a lot of things and want the status that comes with it; I think that this can be a very dangerous thing, but I also think the money and status can also be used to make the world a better place. I believe God calls some people specifically to make lots of money and be able to influence others of the same status and bless others that are not. Camps like I am working at now would not exist if business men and women hadn't been called by God to use their gifts to make the world a better place. I like to be able to be generous with my money but I always feel like there is more and more I can give, and I feel bad when I buy things that I don't need. I feel like I have done a little of this this weekend on the great sales. Now that I have made some of these purchases I think I need to be aware of how I can use these things and share this stuff to make other peoples lives better, and therefore make the world a better place.

Some Things I have purchased this past week:
- plane ticket
- new battery for my computer
- portable speaker dock for ipods
- portable external harddrive
- CDRs
- head lamp
- board games from goodwill (Carcassonne is one that I am really exited about - 53rd best on boardgamegeek.com)
- lots of food and beverages
- nooma DVDs
- white elephant gifts
- cheesy Christmas sweater
- candles

I have some ideas of how I can bless others with these but I would love to hear others ideas, so got any? this could be fun, maybe you could do this reflection on your resources also. There is many more things in my mind about money from recent conversations and experiences of my own and close friends; so what I wrote here probably has a lot of wholes. But God is still in control of all the money and all the stuff and you and me.

This post is dedicated to all those celebrating No Share November, I haven't shaved for awhile either. It is almost time to shave for some, probably not me yet.
